This advanced, comprehensive online diagnostic eLearning and research tool was custom designed and
developed for the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) by Maximum Value Programming in 2010. The tool facilitates the training of clinicians in recognizing swallowing disorders through the use of synchronized media presenting fluoroscopy videos synchronized to 3D medical animations of various types and severities of these disorders. Trainees are offered extensive tools to aid in their understanding of these disorders, having the ability to show the videos synchronized with animations frame by frame or in real time. They can also compare various degrees of swallowing impairment and select different animated views for an even richer understanding of these disorders.
After training, clinicians are tested in their ability to assess swallowing function and impairment and are certified upon satisfactorily demonstrating their proficiency on the eLearning platform. After certification, clinicians can then use the tool to capture real-world patient medical information through hundreds of metrics. The research component then allows researchers to produce a virtually limitless combination of various demographic and diagnostic information through a dynamic query system that culls the recorded clinical data on the platform, thus facilitating increasingly deeper understanding of swallowing impairment disorders. Maximum Value Programming hosts the entire eLearning and research tool on its own HIPAA-compliant servers and offers continual 24/7 support to ensure optimal performance. Additional features and improvements have been added to the platform since launch at the direction of MUSC, demonstrating the distinct advantages of the custom and scalable design and development process used in all projects upon which MVP embarks.
